Choose Your Photo

Linda begins the process of creating a Pet Art portrait using a high resolution photograph of your pet. If you choose to provide a photo to Linda (versus requesting Linda to do a photoshoot), please review the material below, including viewing the video, to learn about resolution and composition requirements.

Choose a photo that you feel is most appropriate for the desired format (either the 12"x12" or the 12"x16" format).Your photo file must be JPEG format (i.e., a file name ending in .jpg).

Resolution. VIEW THE VIDEO BELOW. For best results, choose the photo that's not only your favorite but that's taken by a camera of sufficiently high megapixel rating. Excellent results will be achieved if the camera is at least an 8 megapixel camera. Depending on the extent of cropping that might be required, great results can possibly be achieved even with 5 megapixel cameras. If you haven't already taken your picture, set your camera to provide highest resolution and maximum quality (e.g., "Extra Fine" or "Superfine").

Edges. When taking or choosing your photo, be aware of what's in the shot around the border. If important subject matter is too close to the border, Linda will likely add a color-coordinated border around the image so it will wrap around the edge rather than the important subject matter being wrapped around the edge. Photos that can wrap around the edge without losing important subject matter (literally) stand out from the wall.

The portion of this image that will wrap around the edges is shown with a red tint. This example shows that some of the subject matter of interest will wrap around the edges. A better result might be achieved if the dog didn't fill so much of the image space. But the decision is yours!
